Mom’s Luncheon

Meet for Mom’s Lunch Out on Tuesday, October 26th at 12:00 p.m. at The Olive Garden in Cary (1809 Walnut Street, Crossroads Area).  You must RSVP to Jodi at Family Support Network of Wake County by Monday, October 25th if you plan to attend.  To RSVP please call (919) 662-4600, ext. 257 or email jodi@familysupportonline.org.

The Coffee Connection – Wednesday, October 13th

Please join Family Support Network of Wake County  for coffee, tea, and connections at Starbucks the 2nd Wednesday of every month.  Meetings with topics and speakers are great but sometimes it’s just nice to get together, without pre-planned topics, and talk about whatever is on our mind at that moment.

We will meet between the hours of 9:00—11:00 a.m.  You are welcome to come for part or all of the time.  The next meeting will be October 13th at Starbucks, 3800 Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh.

Sibshops – Friday, October 15th

Sibshops give brothers and sisters of children with special needs an opportunity to meet other siblings in a relaxed, recreational setting.  It gives siblings the chance to explore their feelings in creative, light, and fun ways.

The next Sibshops class (for children ages 8-13) of 2010 will be held on Friday, October 15th from 6-9 p.m. at Green Acres Corn Maze in Cary.  Drop off and pick up  is at Green Acres located at 1132 Morrisville Carpenter Road, Cary.  To register your child for the class please contact Jodi at (919) 662-4600, ext. 257 or email.

Fall 2010 Newsletter is now available

The newest edition of our quarterly newsletter (Fall 2010) is now available.  This issue contains information about our upcoming events including The Coffee Connection, Support Parent Training, Holland Tour Group (support group) meetings, Sibshop classes, and a Writing Effective IEP’s Workshop.

Support Parent Training – October 5, 2010

This workshop’s purpose is to orient/train parents who have “been there”, so that they may support others by helping them cope with the initial shock and day to day challenge of a child with special needs.  If you feel you would like to help another parent by lending an ear through their difficult period, please join us to better prepare yourself by gaining pointers from other experienced support parents.

FSN/WC needs a variety of parents whose children cover all disabilities from prematurity, specific diagnosis, to issues and concerns parents have.
